Oddness

Let me tell you a little story here - eventually it will become clear how this relates to my current life.  It was my third year of college, and I was sharing an apartment with Tammy in EGF.  For the first semester I was borrowing Ananias's box spring and mattress.  I can't remember now why she didn't need it at the time.  However, sometime during that year Ananias repossessed her mattress and box spring.  This left me without a bed, so my choices were to sleep on the floor, buy a new bed, or temporarily sleep on the futon in the living room.  I chose the futon at first because it was more comfortable than the floor and I was busy studying, etc. and didn't find the time to purchase a new bed.  Plus, all I had was Reggie, and he wasn't really capable of transporting a bed.  Mostly it was just lack of motivation to buy a new bed - the futon wasn't all that uncomfortable.  When I first started sleeping on the futon I meant for it to be temporary with good intentions of buying a new bed.  But, a week turned into several weeks and perhaps even months.  I don't really remember how long it went on.  I finally bought a new bed, mostly because it was starting to drive my roommate crazy that I was sleeping on her futon in the living room and using my bedroom as a giant closet and dressing room.  I didn't want to live with an insane person if it was easily preventable.  I borrowed Jim's pick-up truck, and Chris and I went to Sam's Club one Saturday and bought a new bed, which I still own by the way.

Anyway, the point of this is: if my living conditions are in disarray, it doesn't really bother me that much as long as it happens gradually or I know the reason they are like that.  For example, my closet.  Events at Christmas time caused me to start a repair on some sheetrock in my closet.  At that time I had to partially empty the shelves in my closet to keep my clothes from getting messed up.  The project went slowly and I finally finished the sheetrock patching in April or March I think.  In May I emptied my whole closet in preparation for painting the ceiling in my closet as part of the patching project.  I'm pretty much at the six month mark of my closet being in disarray.  The end is in sight as the primer went on yesterday.  I just need to slap the paint on, wipe down the shelves, vacuum, and restore my clothes to my closet.  My makeshift closet is now spread out over three different rooms.  Check it out.  And yes, those are all clean clothes, not dirty clothes.  I have a couple laundry bags of dirty clothes around too.  Who knew I had so many clothes?

Good grief!! I would have never in a million years have guessed that you had so many clothes!! However...since you DO tend to wear shoes until all five of your toes are sticking out somewhere, I imagine that you probably hang on to clothes just as long, right? :)

Now, get to work on finishing that closet!!! I want a July 4 report that it's done! Okay, okay...since that's a Sunday, we'll allow for a July 5 report. Now, chop-chop!!

I really think there should be some thought put into the right color of paint. Walls and ceilings the same? Are there definite embarkation and demarkation poins? Does the whole bedroom need painting?---yikes the bedroom is open to the office below!......this may well be a winter project so as not to waste the nice summer weather indoors!
Dad
PS. Paint it soon so the next time we come it won't be part of the cleanup process.

Gin,
When my five toes stick out, then they're called sandals. ;-) You did hit it right on the head though - I keep my clothes forever. I still occasionally wear some clothes I had in high school, and we know THAT was a long time ago.

Dad,
You're right, it is a bit of a quandary. There aren't clear lines of demarcation between the ceiling and wall, but I'm standing firm - plain old white - only on the ceiling, and only in the closet. I'll create some false lines of demarcation if required.

Haha.. sounds like some of my projects... but I'm not one for leaving a mess around the house I tend to hide it in the closet or something of that sort. About clothes from High School don't feel bad... I still have some from high school too, thanks to the wife they've been relegated to "everyday" shirts... whatever happened to that term? Maybe it was just our family that used it? Of course now that work in office can't really wear them everyday though.
