International Travel Tip
For those of you inclined to swim in public pools, especially ones in third world countries, I have a great travel tip for you. Take a few spa/pool test strips along in your suitcase, and if you don't smell strong chlorine or the chlorine seems too strong, "before you dip, dip a strip". If the chemicals are way out of balance, don't chance it. You'll just have to use the tiny weight room instead.
For natural bodies of water, you're on your own. The only tips I have there is don't swim right next to or downstream of any nuclear power plants, industrial factories, or sewage treatment plants. And if the locals say there are sharks, heed the warnings.
